Violins of Hope

It was an honor to welcome Dr. James Grymes as a featured speaker for inSIGHT’s I•SERIES. Dr. Grymes shared insights from his compelling book, which chronicles the extraordinary stories of violinists who endured the Holocaust. For some, the violin was a liberator; for others, it became a lifeline that literally spared their lives.
Through Dr. Grymes’ presentation, audiences learned how music provided solace, courage, and resilience during humanity’s darkest hours. In certain cases, it even became a tool of justice, helping survivors avenge the loss of loved ones. More broadly, the violins of the Holocaust came to symbolize strength, hope, and optimism for the future, reminding attendees of the enduring power of art, faith, and human perseverance.
