Dramawise: Ordinary People

inSIGHT members were treated to a private performance of Ordinary Americans, a compelling play that brings to life the story of Gertrude Berg and her remarkable struggle to preserve her groundbreaking television show, The Goldbergs, during an era marked by McCarthyism and rampant antisemitism. The play thoughtfully explores the life of Tillie Edelstein, the woman forever remembered as “Molly Goldberg,” highlighting her perseverance, creativity, and enduring impact on American television.

Following the performance, inSIGHT members were given a behind-the-scenes experience, participating in a live talk and Q&A with the actors, writers, and producers. This unique opportunity offered intimate insights into the creative process, historical context, and the challenges of bringing such an important story to the stage, leaving attendees both inspired and deeply informed.
