"Shared Legacies" is a captivating documentary delves into the enduring connection between African Americans and Jewish Americans,
tracing its roots to the establishment of the NAACP in 1909. Through a remarkable compilation of archival footage
and interviews with witnesses, activists, Holocaust survivors, and civil rights leaders, including members of
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s family, Harry Belafonte, and John Lewis, the film unfolds.
Against the backdrop of escalating intolerance, racial prejudice, and hatred, exemplified by footage from the
Tree of Life tragedy in Pittsburgh, Shared Legacies asserts the imperative to rediscover this potent alliance.
Serving as an urgent call to action, the film encourages diverse groups to collaborate
for the pursuit of freedom and equality for all.
Selected for the Boston Jewish Film Festival and recipient of the Building Bridges Jury Prize at the
Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, Shared Legacies is hailed by Courtney Small of POV Magazine as a guide,
suggesting that if history can illuminate the way to a better future, this documentary aims to be the
GPS that steers society back on the right path.
